FNS50107 - Diploma of Financial Services - Lending pathway

The Diploma of Financial Services - Lending pathway is designed for  those working in consumer or commercial lending. It consists of four compulsory subjects. This pathway is one of two options offered by Kaplan Professional to gain a FNS50107 Diploma of Financial Services qualification (the alternative being the Financial Markets pathway).

Who should enrol

This qualification is ideal for:

  • new entrants to the consumer and commercial industry
  • those aspiring to take on a client-facing role in the industry.

What would I achieve upon completion?

Upon successful completion of this qualification, you should be able to demonstrate:

  • practical skills to assess and settle loan applications
  • an understanding of the structure of the industry, its key players and the lending process
  • an awareness of lending products and sources of funds for lending
  • a thorough understanding of financial statements and their application to loans
  • the ability to identify risk and understand the risk mitigation process
  • the ability to review ongoing loans and manage non-performing loans
  • a working knowledge of relevant industry legislation
  • an awareness of the highest ethical standards in financial services
  • a competitive edge to get started in the lending industry.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this qualification, however secondary education or relevant industry experience is recommended.

Qualification duration and delivery

Students are expected to undertake a minimum of 100 hours of self-study per subject per 10 week trimester, including 20 hours for assignment and exam preparation.  On average, students will need to allocate 10 hours of study time per week to the subject during the trimester.

Each subject should be completed within one trimester and you may elect to undertake more than one subject per trimester.

Assessment

To complete each of the subjects, you must successfully complete the:

  • Assignment, and
  • Exam

If you are unsuccessful in an assessment (Not yet competent), you will have the opportunity to:

  • Resit the exam (twice)
  • Resubmit  the assignment (once), please see the Assessment Policy for further details

Qualification Fees

Subject fees:

  • Members – $625 per subject
  • Non-members - $695 per subject
  • Independent Exam Supervisor fee*: $150 per exam

*If you are a student located outside of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth metropolitan areas you will be required to arrange an independent supervisor to invigilate the exam. If you are unable to arrange an independent supervisor, Kaplan may be able to assist you with a supervisor at a cost of $150. If you would like this option, please include payment with this enrolment. Students will be responsible for providing a suitable exam venue ie. Business Location. Please refer to the exam information page for more detailed information.

Overseas Courier Surcharges

For those undertaking the qualification via distance education overseas, a surcharge is added to the enrolment fee to cover the higher dispatch costs.
